Alison Ames
Former Clinical Legal Counsel Forensic Psychiatry Program of St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton
Alison Ames is past Clinical Legal Counsel to the Forensic Psychiatry Program of St. Joseph’s Health Care Hamilton and part-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University.
She obtained her Law Degree at Osgood Hall Law School in Toronto and was called to the Bar in 2006.
Alison is also a nurse and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lakehead University School of Nursing in Thunder Bay. She worked in nursing for many years prior to becoming a lawyer.
While at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton she represented the Hospital at the Ontario Review Board Hearings,a quasi-judicial tribunal that holds hearings for those found Not Criminally Responsible on Account of Mental Disorder and Unfit to Stand Trial.
