Becky Hewis
Expressive Arts therapist, Volunteer Coordinator Art Gallery of Burlington
Becky Hewis started out in her creative journey by attending Ryerson University for a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Interior Design. She enjoyed being a part of the design world in Toronto for a short time before settling into Burlington 15 years ago. While raising young children, she worked as a caregiver for a wonderful woman living with dementia. It was through that experience that she chose to fulfill her dream of continuing her education by returning to get her diploma in Art Therapy through the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. Becky worked with many diverse populations as an art therapist. The culmination of her work resulted in the first art therapy exhibition hosted by the Art Gallery of Burlington. Soon after, she was offered a place on their team, where she is now the volunteer coordinator, which allows her to work closely with their education team, developing new programs linked with art therapy.
