Ernie Schramayr

Ernie Schramayr

Fitness and Life Coach, Columnist The Spectator

Ernie was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. After completing High School, he left for Indiana to attend Purdue University on a football scholarship which led to BA in Community Health Promotion and a career in the CFL. Following his time in the CFL, Ernie founded All Canadian Fitness in Hamilton, Ontario; a personal training and medical exercise service that contracted 25 certified fitness professionals between 1993 and 2013. While managing All Canadian Fitness, Ernie provided post-rehab services for the Musicians Clinics of Canada and did independent contract work as a treatment plan consultant for a Toronto law firm as part of their accident benefits resolution team.

Since 2005, Ernie has written “Ask A Trainer” and “Fitness Solutions” columns for The Hamilton Spectator and has done additional media work that included being the featured fitness expert of CHML-AM’s Health Matters radio program and CHCH-TV’s @ Home Show while being featured on CITY-TV’s Breakfast Television and in Chatelaine magazine.

In March of 2024, Ernie graduated from the Todd Durkin IMPACT Life Coaching Program in San Diego and began work as an IMPACT Life Coach. This represents a culmination of 30+ years of helping people manage their fitness, their medical conditions and their life goals. It has been a natural progression as the IMPACT program provides an enhanced opportunity for Ernie to work with clients outside the realm of strictly fitness.

Ernie has been married to Liesa Schramayr since 1994 and is the proud dad of two kids; Lyric 23 and Justus 20. In his spare time, he is a voracious reader, loves cooking, playing guitar and participating in a variety of sporting hobbies.
